Building history

The School and house were built around 1896. At its peak the school had 40+ primary pupils but finally closed its doors in the early sixties. There are still a number of local residents in the area who attended the school and talk about it and its teachers with affection and fond memories. It started as a single room and was later divided into two rooms to accommodate all the pupils. It is constructed from local sand stone quarried just a mile along the road back towards Fearn at Balaldie.
